Shrapnel UXR

Shrapnel is a first person shooter game in development, that uses blockchain technology and user generated content.  User generated content is one of the key pillars of the Shrapnel game.

The Goal

Create a mobile Insignia maker game for users to create their own patches, and stickers and customized gear.  The gamer is able to create and mint their original design into an NFT which feeds into a Shrapnel web 3.0 marketplace.

Create a web 3.0 Shrapnel branded marketplace and community where gamers are able buy, sell and trade their newly minted NFTs.

Shrapnel Game & Marketplace Personas

User Stories and Persona documents create an interactive way to develop a detailed understanding of Shrapnel users, both game and marketplace.

The stories typically ask "As a [user - seller/buyer/curator/moderator/creator, etc] I want to [blank], in order to [blank].  This will typically address the type of user the goal they are trying to accomplish and why.

The personas go beyond demographics and dig into each user’s goals, needs, interests, pain points and more. This allowed the development of specific features that addressed pain points and other opportunities to better connect with each user on their level.

Based off of the personas and user stories, journey maps were created to show the relationship between user and game and user and marketplace. It shows the user's end to end experience on the mobile app and into the web 3.0 marketplace.

UX - IA, user flows, wireframes & prototyping

Once user research is completed, the information architecture and flowcharts were created. These documents mapped out the structure of the site and mapped out in detail how a user will navigate their way through the app

and marketplace.

Documented interactive wireframes

Interactive and documented wireframes were provided along with Figma files in order for there to be clear instructions for the development team to build the basic structure the app and marketplace.  Prototypes were built (based off of approved wires) first as low fidelity (gray boxing) and high fidelity using a new design system and updated branding.

User Acceptance Testing

User acceptance testing was performed once the development was finished.  The nice thing was to conduct UAT as each major section was completed.  This allowed small incremental changes as the app and site were being developed.  These tests were performed once the script and sequence of tests were created.  Live interviews and zoom interviews were conducted to test out features and flow.  Once all information was gathered, it gave the opportunity to make changes and tweak design so that users would have a pleasant experience using the mobile game and marketplace.

Shrapnel FPS Game, Marketplace and Mobile Insignia maker are now in Beta production.
